Blackford Community Hospital
Blackford Community Hospital is a 15-bed facility designated by Medicare as a Critical Access Hospital. After 79 years operating as Blackford County Hospital, the facility became Blackford Community Hospital on June 30, 2002, and an affiliate of Ball Memorial Hospital, Inc. The Hospital is
accredited by the Joint Commission.
A new hospital and adjacent medical office building were opened Jan. 19, 2005. On January 1, 2009, Blackford Community Hospital along with Ball Memorial Hospital became partners in Clarian Health. Blackford Community Hospital continues to provide cutting-edge healthcare with a small-town touch.

October 7, 2009: Blackford Community Hospital restricts visitation as flu precaution
Blackford Community Hospital is making its visitation policies more restrictive to stem the spread of H1N1 flu.
Effective Wednesday, October 7, the hospital will restrict visitation to no more than two healthy visitors, per patient, throughout the facility. In addition, children ages 14 and under are prohibited from visiting the hospital during flu season.
“We recognize the changes may be an inconvenience for some and we will reevaluate the policy weekly,” said Steve West, President and CEO, Blackford Community Hospital. “The purpose behind the changes is to protect our patients, employees and visitors. During this flu season we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.”
BCH is also asking people of all ages not to visit if they have flu like symptoms or have been exposed to the flu in the last week.
